To the North I saw the smokestacks
Peeking through a sea of smog
They flushed out all the animals
Killed every bird and frog
There used to be a redwood
It was the biggest living thing
They cut it down and lost their minds
Trying to count the rings
She said don't go there
Because there's no coming down
She said don't go there
Because no living creature has ever made it down
The thing the townsfolk feared the most
Was what they called "The Spyre"
They said it reached the pearly gates
And some say it went higher
I'm told as you approach it
You lose all track of time
And if you ever reach the mountain's foot
You'll be compelled to climb
She said don't go there
Because there's no coming down
She said don't go there
Because no living creature has ever made it down
Because no living creature has ever made it down
I know 2 out of 3 points on this half hexagon and this music really surprised me. Reminds me of Peter Strickland movies somehow - a certain slice of retro but not like a pastiche of any one thing. Cool. Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar)
Wurld Series, from New Zealand, deliver gloriously fuzzed-out indie rock on their latest LP, all of it psyched-out and woozy. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 20, 2021

This album is a two car garage rolling through suburbia on skateboard wheels. Sonically it transports me back to my 00s baseball wallpaper, my red oval boombox, and watching mtv unplugged sessions. sig
